On 24 Sep 2018, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City cheerfully held its 2018-2019 academic year opening ceremony with receiving certificate of accreditation at program level under the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance’s (AUN-QA).

Participants attending at the event were representatives from Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Education and Training, national and international stakeholders, together with lecturers, professors and 10,400 new students.
According to, Dr Nguyen Thien Tue, IUH achieved many positive outcomes in the academic year 2017-2018. Its education quality gradually improved and met social requirement. Nearly 95% of graduates employed and were highly recognized by both national and international enterprises in term of professional qualification.
In 2018, 104 percent of IUH’s enrollment met in which the entry score were relatively high compared with regional universities (common score spectrum was a range of 18-21). Currently, the total number of students is 38,550 in which the new academic year graduates are 6,700 and undergraduates are 3.700.
In the last academic year, the university invested over 100 billion VND on furnishing and equipping new facilities to support studying and teaching activities. Its facilities are decorated day by day, laboratory equipment are sync invested, towards the standardizing and modernizing trend, meeting the requests from teaching and studying activities.
Especially, in Aug 2018, the first four academic programs of IUH were accredited and certified as meeting AUN-QA standards (the Electronic and Communication Engineering Technology program, the Electronics Electrical Engineering Technology program, the Environmental Engineering Technology program, and the Chemical Engineering program). IUH is also the first university of Ministry of Industry and Trade gains accreditation of ASEAN.

Dr Nguyen Thien Tue, significantly mentioned in his speech, IUH will continuous apply for AUN-QA assessment of accreditation at program level for another 4 academic programs and institutional level in the academic year 2018-2019. IUH’s goal to 2023 is all academic programs accredited by AUN-QA and ABET.
At the moment, the university has completed revision of all academic programs to make sure they all meet the social requirement, the need of regional and international integration, and approaching industry 4.0.
Following the achievement, to the academic year of 2018-2019, with the slogan of “Innovating, attaining new height - Dynamizing, integrating into the globe”, all university‘s staff will continuously attempt to and dedicate themselves to synchronous education quality improvement towards the regional and international advanced standards and learner-center philosophy.
At the ceremony, IUH’s leaders also awarded certificate of excellent for outstanding students for their impressive study results valedictorians of the 2018-2019 enrollment. Also, some enterprises awarded scholarships for those students that were worth 350 million VND.
AUN-QA (ASEAN university network-quality assurance) criteria are built in accordance with America and Europe’s standards that are accepted by ASEAN Ministers of Education to be used in the regional universities.
