IUH join hands to fight the Covid-19 epidemic

The 4th wave of COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam has spread rapidly and shows no signs of stopping increasing the number of cases, especially in Ho Chi Minh City. The increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 is accompanied with the accelerating proportion of worse patients. It is urgent to be equipped with medical equipment to serve promptly test, emergency, intensive care for critical patients such as testing machines, oxygen respirator, oxygen, portable oxygen respirators.

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on supporting the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic; in response to the program "Fight COVID-19 with the Youth" launched by Tuoi Tre newspaper, The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) has mobilized officials and employees to support and received an amount of more than VND 600 million. Facing the urgent and essential need for medical equipment, IUH has decided to sponsor a total PCR- Realtime Testing Machine worth about VND 1.1 billion to support medical facilities with conditions to test quickly, show accurate results to detect positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus soon. The remaining funds are derived from the IUH Welfare Fund. The above equipment will be sent directly to the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City in the near future, IUH will give oxygen generators and oxygen backup to support more equipment for medical facilities in the area.

"Receiving this testing system, we are very pleased. Suspected cases of infection will have affirmative results in just 6 hours. As for patients who are being treated, by the 8th day without symptoms nor background disease, they can be discharged if the PCR test is negative"- Dr. Ho Hai Truong Giang – Director of An Binh Hospital expressed his thanks to IUH and affirmed that this is a great motivation to help the medical team to accelerate covid-19 testing to join hands to fight the epidemic.

With the core value of "Innovation – Unity – Humanity", IUH has previously supported the COVID-19 Prevention Fund in 2020 with an amount of VND 500 million. In addition, the units at IUH have been proactive in carrying out activities to join hands with the whole country to repel the epidemic such as: producing antiseptic hand sanitizer, sewing masks, installing negative ion sprayers, launching a movement of support among the school's youth union members ... Assoc.Prof. Dr. Le Hung Anh – Director of Institute of Science, Technology and Environmental Management said, "This is our practical and meaningful activity to share community responsibility, show the spirit of cordiality and deep human values. As school officials, we are always ready to respond to these activities. My unit also launched support activities at the Institute to contribute to the whole country to fight the epidemic."

During this time, IUH also assisted Go Vap District in organizing a COVID-19 vaccination site, dispatching 60 volunteers to support other vaccination sites in the district. For students, IUH also developed a Scholarship Fund and tuition support for students affected by the epidemic with the amount of 60 billion VND.
