In the Morning of October 7, 2015 in Quang Ngai the solemn ceremony to announce the establishment decision of Quang Ngai Campus belonging to the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City was organized and co-chaired by Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training and Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. At the ceremony, there was participation of the People Committee Leaders of the central region provinces like Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Binh Dinh and Dak Lak.

Quang Ngai Campus of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City was established by the Decision No. 4030/ QD-BGDĐT on September 30, 2015, whereby, the campus is situated in Quang Ngai province, under the organizational structure and subject to the management and administration of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City is a leading university of Industry and Trade field about the quality of education and training scale (the current scale of training is about 50,000 students), providing main human resources for the Southern provinces. The Quang Ngai Campus was established with the training scale of 2,800 students. This will contribute to provide manpower for Quang Ngai province and other surrounding provinces in the central region and the development of industrial and commercial sectors which are top priorities in particular (mechanical, electrical - electronics, information technology, expoiting and processing of oil and gas, shipbuilding, exploiting and processing of seafood, E-commerce, international trade and international economic integration) and the economy of the provinces in the region in general

MOIT currently has 49 educational institutions throughout the country, including 35 institutions belonging to the Ministry (09 universities and 01 institution for training and retraining staff, 22 colleges and 03 vocational colleges); 14 institutions belonging to the Ministry’s enterprises (02 universities, 04 colleges, 05 vocational colleges, 01 secondary school, 01 vocational school and 01 institution for training and retraining staff). The total training number of these institutions is at 350,000 students in which there are over 100,000 university students. However, the training institutions are mainly located in the Northern and Southern provinces. Only 05 colleges are distributed in the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Phu Yen.
The establishment of Quang Ngai Campus is thus not just a developing step of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City but also an important milestone for the development of training institution network of the Industry and Trade in the Central, contributing to implement the scheme of Restructuring of Industry and Trade to serve the industrialization and modernization and sustainable development until 2020, the vision to 2030 which was approved by the Prime Minister in the Decision No. 2146 / QD-TTg on December 1, 2014.
